Diary of a Wimpy Kid Diorama

The hardest part for this project was finding a hoop for the diorama. We went to various stores such as Target and WalMart... but ended up at Michael's. Which is over priced to begin with, and the only thing they had was a ball I had to use a soldering iron for the purpose we needed it for.

I do have to say, I survived the paint fumes of the spray paint by doing it outdoors and with a box fan blowing it away from me... it also tried to blow away my newspaper.

The Cheese Touch is the portion of the book my son decided to do, and I thought would have been the easiest.... WRONG!

The end product was worth the effort put in, we did get a chance to spend time together, but unfortunately at his age I did more of the "problem solving" (spray paint, gorilla glue, and trying to figure out how to actually put it together). I made sure he took part like kid glue for the cotton balls, his people, and so forth. He even did the parts that go on the outside of the box... ~*Cheers*~

Autumn Weather

Just when we thought the summer, and high temperatures, would never end... AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED!!!

What does this mean for our family? First of all if the first rain ever comes, we dance in it. But lately it means that after school and on weekends... HOT COCOA!!!

We scored some mini cinnamon rolls at the store, mixed up fresh batches of hot cocoa, and still had left over mini marshmallows. ~*Mmm*~

I am hoping that small family traditions like this will stick with the kids. Considering that more companies are leaving California (hope we don't become the next Michigan), and high stress levels of the world around us, small yet simple escapes make a huge difference.

I hope the kids remember dropping everything to make hot cocoa, talking, and bonding time...

Halloween Cupcakes

Since my middle son is currently seven years old, we did a cake mix from a box. It is fairly easy for him to add oil, water, and eggs. And I'll add he did an amazing job measuring, and with the mixer.

The hardest part for any child is waiting for the cupcakes to cool off... before adding frosting and decorations!

I love how my little man decided to design his cupcakes! Not only did he choose some to be just chocolate with skulls (death by chocolate), and a Beware sign for the sprinkles (dangerously sweet).

It took only a couple of days before all were devoured... ~*Mmm*~
