TABEO FREEZES

~* TABEO *~ ... when we first bought these for the kids, for Christmas, we had a huge scare the same day! One had a screen that looked like a broken television (static and colors in all the wrong places). The other wouldn't turn off and the Tabeo would just freeze up. My first thought to help save the holiday was see if at least one had an online fix. I was horrified to see many had the same complaint... were we out our money? I returned them the following day when the store was open for new ones (they were accommodating and awesome even though we threw one box away, Christmas gift ripping thing).

THERE IS AN ACTUAL FIX... so, before you tune out and think it is just another complaint... let me continue with my experience!

First of all, all tablets have batteries that heat up!!! The difference with this one is that it than had a cover designed to help live through children, but lacks a way to keep it cool (even laptops have side components with fans to sit in your lap). I first tried holding the button in, where it would blink like it was responding, but still couldn't get it to shut down. I even thought to let the battery run down, but feared it might over heat and without a box... how on earth can it be returned?!?!?!

THE FIX... quickly tap the power button, it will go black like it is off... wait a few moments, hit it again, and it'll actually let you than turn it off. It basically sets it into a sleep mode and still needs to be properly shut down. And hopefully all before the battery gets too hot!

That thing was so hot I actually stood outside at one point in hopes it might help while I figured it out. I have had to on a few occasions, after a kid yells it froze again, do the quick fix... than ask them to not play with for a while so it can fully cool down. I do regret this purchase but can honestly say all tablets with thick plastic covers have the same issue (regardless of brand). You have a choice to feel safe from busting or the minor annoyances of over heating. The reading and educational games are why we bought them, not just ANGRY BIRDS.

Now you know what to do when the tabeo freezes or won't turn off. I wish I found a post like this when I was freaking out, machine heating up, and wouldn't turn off (frozen).
